The resolution condemned the October 12, 1999 army coup and declared the day as Save Democracy Day. It said dictatorship can never be a substitute of democracy, as the history proved that dictatorship had split the country and promoted terrorism. While top leaders like Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto and Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti were martyred, and Mian Nawaz Sharif and Mian Shahbaz Sharif were sent in exile. The resolution further mentioned that democracy provided a consensus constitution to the nation and made the country an atomic power. Responding to queries regarding Health Department during the 'Question Hour' of the Punjab Assembly session here Tuesday, he said that according to WHO, Pakistan fall in normal category of Hepatitis-pron countries, as two to seven percent people are affected by this fatal disease in Pakistan. The Law Minister said that since Hepatitis treatment is lengthy, difficult and very costly, the public awareness about the spread of this ailment is of utmost importance for which, the provincial government has launched effective campaigns in this regard, besides taking measures to control Hepatitis cases. To another question by the same member, Rana Sana Ullah said Punjab Chief Minister had constituted three task forces (northern, central and southern) to check the sale of spurious drugs in the province. However, the Q-Leaguers walked out of the session in protest that Speaker took up the resolution, which was part of yesterday's (October 12) agenda and was not pended by him, and it could not be taken up, as today (Oct. 13) is private members day. The Speaker Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan tasked the Education Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman, Auqaf Minister Ehsan- ud-Din Qureshi and Rai Shahjahan to convince and bring the protesting opposition members back to the house. The Speaker continued the proceeding and got the resolution passed from the house in the absence of PML-Q MPAs. The Q-Leaguers did not return to the house till end of the session's agenda of the day.
