Wanted was a 2005 primetime police drama television series broadcast on the TNT network. It starred Gary Cole as Lieutenant Conrad Rose, Ryan Hurst as ATF Field Agent Jimmy McGloin, and Josey Scott as Officer Rodney Gronbeck.
The show follows an elite taskforce, with members pulled from the different branches of law enforcement (DEA, United States Marshals, LAPD, ATF, FBI) as they track down Los Angeles's top 100 most wanted fugitives and struggle to balance their work and personal lives.
Each individual officer in the task force brings something unique to this strike force. Conrad Rose as the Team Leader is from L.A. Metro SWAT and is considered the moral center of the unit. Jimmy McGloin is an ATF agent and a bona fide card-carrying conservative. Carla Merced is a former Naval Intelligence officer and one of the best hostage negotiators around. Although she wasn't hand picked for the team by Rose, after being out in the field with her, the team realizes what a valuable asset she can be. Tommy Rodriquez is from the FBI and not above using his good looks and charm to stop any criminal. Rodney Gronbeck is with the LAPD and a technical genius armed with state-of-the-art computer equipment to aid the team in catching the bad guy. Joe Vacco is a DEA agent who is currently living at the team's warehouse headquarters after having getting kicked out of his own place. And Eddie Drake, an eight-year veteran of the U.S. Marshals Service and graduate of the L.A. Metro Police Academy, where Rose was his favorite training officer, is recruited after a death in the squad.
As the team tracks down criminals, often using unconventional (and legally questionable) methods, they discover there is a fine line between justice and the law. Every time they go out to get a bad guy, they must walk that line, all in an effort to make Los Angeles a safer place to live for every citizen. The series was canceled after the first season, at the end of a cliffhanger dealing with whether the group would be prosecuted for overstepping their bounds.
Wanted is a 2008 film loosely based on the comic book miniseries Wanted by Mark Millar. The film is directed by Timur Bekmambetov and stars James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman and Angelina Jolie. Production began in April 2007. Wanted has a target release date of June 27, 2008.

Natürlich könnte ich als Drehbuchautor in so einem Fall auch sagen, er flüchtet sich in Videospiele - aber das war mir alles zu banal, das lag zu sehr auf der Hand. Der Western steht ja auch für etwas, er steht für Vereinfachung. Es gibt Gut und es gibt Böse, also ziemlich klare Richtlinien. Für mich war das der klarste Sprung für einen, dem die Realität zu komplex ist. Zusätzlich war es natürlich ein enormer Anreiz, gerade in einem Land, wo es keine Infrastruktur für einen Western gibt, ernsthaft zu versuchen, einen zu machen. Dennoch: WANTED ist auf jeden Fall kein Western. Das ist ganz wichtig. Der Western ist nur ein kleiner Teil des Films, ein Viertel vielleicht, wo eine bestimmte Wunschvorstellung bedient wird. Alles andere ist ganz real. Für mich ist es eine Komödie, aber ich kann auch über Dinge lachen, die andere gar nicht lustig finden.
