The Julian Alps (Julijske Alpe) are part of the Alps that stretch from north-eastern Italy to Slovenia, where they rise to 2864 metres at Triglav. They are named after Julius Caesar and are part of the Southern Limestone Alps. A large part of the Julian Alps is included in the Triglav National Park.

Important passes of the Julians are:

• Vršič, 1611 m (5826 feet), links the Sava valley and Soča valley. It is the highest mountain road pass in Slovenia.
• Predil Pass (Villach/Beljak by Tarvisio/Trbiž and Bovec to Gorizia/Gorica), paved road 1156 m (3792 feet)
• Hrušica/Birnbaumerwald (Ljubljana to Gorizia/Gorica), paved road 883 m (2897 feet)
• Saifnitz or Pontebba Pass/Tabeljski prelaz (Villach/Beljak by Tarvisio/Trbiž and Pontebba/Tablja to Udine/Videm), railway, paved road, Autobahn/autostrada/avtocesta 797 m (2615 feet)
