Defiance is a 1980 American film starring Jan-Michael Vincent, Art Carney, and Theresa Saldana.
Jan-Michael Vincent portrays a young man seaman who takes up temporary housing in a neighborhood overrun by gangs, while waiting for his next orders to ship out. One gang in particular seems to be in control so he takes matters into his own hands to combat the growing violence, spurring his fellow neighbors to join him.
The film was unsuccessful upon release, both with critics and the public, though it seemed to be shown on cable movie channels (such as HBO) often in the early 80's.
When a boy's father is brutally murdered by the town's most powerful citizen because he's not willing to knuckle under, the boy devotes his life to avenging his father's death. Years later, he becomes swept up in a vicious cycle of revenge and must sacrifice everything he has to protect himself and his family. Written by bdimag
